The Finish Line

August 31st, 2007, 11:21 am by Erlina

Today is my last day at SqueezeOC. As of Monday, I help launch another Web site for Squeeze’s parent company. With busy days ahead, I think it’s time to end this blog. I’ll still be running, just not blogging about it anymore.

Squeeze may keep this site up as an archive. If you’re training for a half marathon or  shorter race, click through the categories to find Q&A’s and race reports to help you with your training.

Thanks for all the support. I’ll see you all on the road!

Run a virtual half marathon

August 6th, 2007, 4:05 pm by Erlina

If the idea of a half marathon is daunting, consider signing up for the Nike + Women’s Half Marathon. It’s a virtual race that takes place on Sunday, Oct. 21 in conjunction with the sold out Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco. (Proceeds from both races go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

It’s an interesting concept (and a brilliant way to boost sales of their Nike + plus system).

Glad you found this blog’s new home. Sorry for the lack of posts lately. But in case you’re wondering, I’m still left foot, right footing, although at a much less intense schedule that I was earlier in the year, but I’m still out there.

And this photo reminds me that it’s probably time to get a new pair of shoes. Nothing like a pair of new kicks to rev up your workout.

New Q&A’s, training tips, etc are on the way. If you have any suggestions for local runners, running clubs, etc to interview, send them my way at etulabut@squeezeoc.com.

Check out Lindsey Baguio’s story in the Register about 72-year-old Virginia Richie, the oldest female athlete at this year’s Saddleback Memorial Half Marathon. She’s walked the race every year since it started nine years ago. Sure, walking isn’t running, but you gotta give the lady credit.

According to the story, Virginia started running when she was 67, completed the Los Angeles Marathon, and climbed Mt. Whitney for the her 40th birthday. As some SqueezeOC staffers will tell you, Whitney ain’t no joke.
